“Ignite Talks” described as “a fast-paced geek event” is making its Los Alamos debut June 16 at Los Alamos Makers on Orange Street.
Ignite talks first started in Seattle, Wash., 12 years ago and is now a global phenomenon with events around the world from New York City to Paris, France … and now Los Alamos.
Most of us have heard of TED talks. Unlike TED talks, Ignite talks have a very specific format and are designed to be very inclusive: Ignite’s official mission is “Everyone Speaks”.
The only requirement is that ‘speakers must build their presentations with 20 slides, each of which is shown for 15 seconds, giving each speaker five minutes”.
This particular format makes it fun for the audience as well as for the speakers. Anyone from public speaking novices to seasoned Toastmasters gets a fair shot.
The “Ignite Talks” team believes that “public speaking builds confidence in individuals and that events like Ignite build community. Our goal is to make it possible for anyone, anywhere, to learn to present their ideas and their stories.”
Los Alamos Makers has been granted the license to organize Ignite events. The first event is 5 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at Los Alamos Makers, 3540 Orange St., Suite LV1.
The community is invited to join the fun and just enjoy the talks or sign up to give a talk. The event is free and catered, so mark your calendars.
Los Alamos, it is now your time to shine!
Anyone willing to take on the Ignite challenge is encouraged to express interest and contact Los Alamos Makers using the form at LosAlamosMakers.org/Ignite.
An optional practice/training session will be available for speakers the week before the event. Anyone enthusiastic about anything qualifies to give a talk.
Forget the “15 minutes of fame”! You only have five minutes, so “Enlighten Us … But Make It Quick!”
The next event I will be speaking at is Full Body Health and Fitness at UNM-LA! My event coordinator Kalen Pocaterra has been so awesome in setting this up! She is such a doll and a great photographer too:) I hope to have my new profile picture up soon! I’m the women in the red shirt.
At this event, I will be speaking longer than 5 minutes and I will have body butter and materials to hand out. Marie Combs from White Crane Acupuncture and Sarah Downs with A.B.L.E will also be joining me. All of the information on this event is getting posted on our Facebook Page Full Body Health and Fitness.
My first interview just hit the papers too. Check it out! Thank you, Carol Clark, at the Daily Post:) And Kaylen M. Pocaterra for making this happen! https://www.ladailypost.com/…/victoria-leduc-tigers-eye-hea…

Many people are looking for answers to help relieve the stress of fatigue. One might reach for a cup of coffee or a sweet treat to get through our daily routine. This solution works great for a couple of hours and then after we return home, the tiredness creeps back in. Over time this diet can make fatigue worse due to poor nutrition.
Victoria LeDuc, owner, and operator of Tigers Eye Healing is a health coach and energy healer. On LeDuc’s website, https://tigerseyehealing.com/ she talks about these poor foods, which she calls High GIs.
“These are foods you should stay away from to stay healthy,” LeDuc said. “They are high in sugar and have little nutritional value. Unhealthy adrenals can’t handle heavy loads of sugar and will leave you even more exhausted, so you need to be aware when consuming these foods.”
LeDuc struggled with low energy, which eventually led her to open Tigers Eye Healing
“I’ve walked the path of adrenal fatigue and total exhaustion from dealing with too much stress which led to high anxieties,” she said. “After struggling with my exhaustion for far too long, I went back to school and focused on my health every chance I had which led me to become a health coach.”

She offers a nutritional package to get clients on the right track to a healthy lifestyle that allows customers to feel better and gives them the energy you are meant to have, LeDuc said.
After discovering the self-healing abilities of a proper nutrition LeDuc wanted more options to help her feel great.
“Feeding my body with clean, healthy foods helped bring me back from the dead, so to speak,” LeDuc said. “But I needed more so I became a Reiki master and energy healer. Using energy healing alongside nutrition has helped me to heal faster than I expected along with giving me the full spectrum of holistic healing I need.”
LeDuc’s Reiki attunements provide relaxation, Chakra balancing, as well as stress reduction and pain relief, she said. She invites clients to her home studio in Los Alamos and also welcomes online sessions for further healing options.
Victoria LeDuc is very excited to share her new-found health with residents of Los Alamos and hopes to see healing seekers at the Ignite Talk at 5 p.m. June 16 at Los Alamos Makers Space. She will be showcasing her new business in a quick five-minute talk.
In addition to the Ignite Talk, she will be hosting her own function 4-7 p.m. July 20 at UNM-LA for anyone interested in seeing Reiki treatment first hand and learning more about her business, Tigers Eye Healing.
