Understanding What Reiki Can Do For You.
If you take a moment to stop what you’re doing and focus on your body you’ll begin to realize that your body is a fantastic part of your life. Awake or asleep our heart automatically pumps and circulates our blood, our lungs keep us breathing, and our digestive system supplies us with the nutrients we need. When you truly think about it our body completes many vital processes without me or you having to even think about it. Our body also has the phenomenal ability to heal itself. Most of the time. Unfortunately, any number of us may get to a point in our lives when our body no longer works optimally.
Dis-harmony has a significant effect on the health of our body, mind, and spirit. Constant bombardments of stress, especially sudden and intense situations or environments, negative beliefs and thoughts, and even day to day stress can knock the body’s harmony out of alignment making it more difficult for our body to do its job. When our body is not in harmony we may experience a whole plethora of symptoms, dis-ease, or warning signs. Some of these signs include a decline in our energy, irritation, anger, outbursts, headaches, stomach aches, muscle tension, and pain. An overstressed lifestyle can cause you to feel anxious, restless, and depressed, you may start overeating, under-eating or reaching for alcohol or drugs for relief.
Reiki energies have a high, healthy positive frequency and potency. Reiki can be used on its own for enhanced wellness or in conjunction with traditional medicine anytime. Reiki treatments provide relaxation, Chakra balancing, as well as stress reduction, pain relief, and it increases immune system strength. Reiki releases tension, lessens the impact of stress and replaces negative energy with positive energy. Reiki also releases the negative energies weighing you down, so you feel whole, energized, and ready to take on what life brings your way.
How does Reiki work? In one word, beautifully. The longer answer requires a bit of explanation.
Reiki is a non-invasive healing technique that utilizes the natural, effective, and beautiful energy around us. The spiritual healing art of Reiki works by channeling the glorious universal life force energy through focus via Reiki masters and practitioners by typically placing their hands over or on the affected areas of the body that need a boost. Each hand placement is held for up to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs in the affected spots. The whole treatment usually lasts about 60 minutes. Offering this energy to the affected areas creates the energy to flow to where your body needs it.
How does a Reiki treatment work?
A treatment is a process of attuning oneself (or someone or something else) back to our source, the Universal Life Force Energy. We are and always will be a part of this universal energy. Receiving a Reiki session allows you to re-attune yourself back to your life force energy. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that as we progress through life: things get busy, minds get cluttered, dreams foggy, paths muddled, and so on; until one day our inborn ability to connect (or tune in) to the Universal Life Force Energy becomes harder to do. Reiki masters know how to attune back to this beautiful universal energy and by using this technique help others become re-aligned or attuned to their own universal source.
Distance Reiki Attunements.
Space and time do not constrain the healing ability of Reiki. Distance Reiki attunements can be performed on anyone, anything, anywhere at any point in time.
Because Reiki energy works at a quantum molecular level, think Quantum Physics, and since we are all connected and can affect one other – using the distance Reiki symbol and the intention of channeling healing energy to someone by a Reiki Master provides a link to the person who is receiving the treatment, therefore, creating the powerful flow of Reiki energy to go to that person. If you are interested in Quantum Physics for a reference point, I recommend you look into it more. Learning just a little bit about the science behind Quantum Physics will reveal a lot about how the process of distance attunements works.
Understanding Chakras is an integral part of Reiki and Reiki healing. It is believed that each of us has Chakra energy centers in our bodies. Seven main Chakra centers to be exact with each one relating to a specific location, function, and color. Chakra’s circulate the life force energy throughout our bodies which in turn keeps us centered and balanced. If even one of the chakras is running at a low level of energy it can create problems with the natural flow of our other chakra’s. Reiki Masters can provide significant benefits to clients when applying Chakra balancing. By working on the Chakra areas, Reiki Masters can get the Universal Life Force Energy flowing again which causes the Chakra centers to start moving, removing slow or stuck energy.
How did Reiki come about?
Reiki came to light through the Japanese doctor Mikao Usui. Dr. Usui recognized and documented Reiki’s power in modern times, around the turn of the 20th century. He is often referred to as Usui Sensei; where Sensei means Teacher or Master. Dr. Usui went on a self-discovery journey which led him to a retreat near Mt. Kurama where he fasted for 21 days. On his last day, Reiki rushed towards him and into his third eye; he then went into a deep state of meditation. While in this state, the Reiki symbols were shown to him. With these Reiki symbols, he was able to use Reiki to heal himself and others and traveled throughout Japan and China teaching his technique and the Reiki Principles.
Usui Sensei died in 1926, leaving behind many Reiki Masters to continue to administer and teach his healing methods. One of these masters was Dr. Chujiro Hayashi who championed the hand positions to treat ailments. One of his students Mrs. Hawayo Takata was elevated to Master level before he died, which ensured the techniques would live on. Naturally, Takata Sensei taught her students, who then went on to teach others.
So the cycle of passing on Reiki’s powers has been secured for future generations. And here we are, carrying on the tradition. Reiki masters and practitioners must undergo training in symbols, hand placement and an attunement process in order to channel the Reiki energies effectively. Only once the training is completed they officially become a Reiki Master.
How does Reiki make you feel?
Most clients feel a sense of relaxation and peace. Your mind clears and regains clarity, and your body relaxes and releases tension. Reiki is so relaxing that sometimes clients may fall asleep during the session. Awake or asleep you will still receive all of the benefits of the treatment. Some people can feel the power of Reiki quite intensely, while others do not. Same energy, different experiences; and just because you can’t see or feel something, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Whether or not you can feel Reiki right now comes down to how aligned your energy is with your universal life force. It may – or may not – take some time for you to feel; it just depends on where you are in your spiritual journey and how open-minded you are to the entire concept of universal energy. Remember, Reiki energy flows to where it is needed and your Universal Life Force Energy will always serve your greatest and highest good.
